The Italian Course Through Cinema will commence on Wednesday 24th May at 5:30 pm, and is perfect for students with an intermediate to strong-intermediate level of Italian who are passionate about Italian cinema and looking to improve their fluency. The course will take place online via Zoom, and participants are encouraged to download the platform beforehand.
Lessons will be 90 minutes long and will occur every Wednesday for 5 weeks, concluding on Wednesday 21st June. The course will be conducted entirely in Italian, and is limited to a maximum of 6 students. The teacher will provide all necessary materials.
Alternatively, students can also opt to join the course on Thursdays at 7:15 pm. The first 6 students to sign up will receive two free tickets to watch a movie at one of the Picturehouse cinemas in the UK.
Throughout the course, we will watch scenes from “Le Otto Montagne” and engage in guided discussions on plot, characters, themes, and issues raised by the movie. In addition, we will learn new vocabulary and idiomatic expressions from the dialogue to expand our vocabulary, and also focus on different aspects of Italian grammar in each lesson.
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand complex texts, interact fluently and spontaneously with native speakers, and produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects while being able to explain viewpoints on topical issues. We aim to price our classes as fairly as possible. We also try to balance class sizes to ensure that students have the best opportunity to learn. We have found that the ideal number of students in a class is 8 students.
